This week marks one year since I left my virtually fulltime job where I would be tied to my computer and headphones for 8-hour shifts providing health advice till it was coming out of my ears.

NOW …

I’m doing what I love.

My health has improved and I see the business opportunity I am in as a real God-send.

I’m making money every 20 minutes (even when I’m asleep).

I do not have to ask anyone’s permission to take time off.

I am now my own boss and really enjoy what I am doing – working at home or away.

If you want to know what enabled me to change my lifestyle, send me a PM today

Guess who else struggled with consistency?

People from all walks of life experience this problem at one point or another.   Some great leaders and sports persons that I can think of found that it can be difficult to be consistent.  But … in order to succeed, no matter if it is your business, career, sport, health and fitness, you need to be consistent.

Consistency involves regularity, being constant and stability.

Someone once said that consistency builds trust.   I agree.

Roger Federer said he had struggled with consistency early in his career.  But, look at him now, he is one of the most consistent and successful tennis players around.  Arsene Wenger one said: “When you look at people who are successful, you will find that they aren’t  the people who are motivated, but who have consistency in their motivation”.  Consistently motivated to be a success in whatever they do. Reaching their dreams, their goals.

Think about it – if your goal is to become fitter and you’ve neglected yourself for a good number of years.  One or two sessions at the local gym now and again will not produce the desired outcome!  You would need to commit to attending the gym regularly/consistently until you achieve your goal.  Stopping & starting will not get the desired result.

Millard Drexler one said: “People like consistency.  Whether it’s a store or a restaurant, they want to come in and see what you are famous for”

If you are trying to build your business – be it online or bricks & mortar – CONSISTENCY is vital.   What if you found a brand new little coffee shop in your area and they really had a fabulous range of coffee and other hot drinks along with home-baked rolls and out of the ordinary sandwiches and cakes, etc.  Cosy atmosphere and free wi-fi –  just a great place to be.  That would be brilliant.  But what if you wanted to pop in after the school-run or on a busy Saturday morning and the place was closed with a notice.  “Back again tomorrow” or “back in an hour”.  Or even if they were open but did not provide the products or service they were advertising, people would lose interest. Their reputation would falter and their business would not succeed.
If you have an online business, people have signed up to your newsletter or mailing list because they are interested in your service or product.   If you do not have regular follow-up by means of news, special offers, helpful hints and tips, something of value, they will lose interest.   Consistent marketing, consistently providing value is a must.
It isn’t easy, but it can be done and must be our modus operandi.   If we are committed to reaching our goal and consistent in striving to achieve it, we will succeed.

To sum up for now, to be successful online or any project, you need to be committed, consistent and coachable.   To find out more about coachability and get resources that will help you, subscribe to this blog and be sure not to miss important and helpful info

How committed are you?

Some years ago, when I first started my search to establish my own online business  and make a liveable income from it, more than one of my mentors stressed that if I was serious about starting my own business, there were 3 essentials needed.

  • Commitment
  • Consistency
  • Coachability

This has been repeated time and time again by various successful business persons, regardless of whether they are online businesses or traditional bricks and mortar off-line business.   (Just by the way, having said that – every bricks and mortar business needs a web presence in this day & age!!!)

I know this advice has been invaluable.

I went through a phase where I flitted around, not quite knowing exactly what I wanted or how to move forward.   I realized that it was unwise (as had been advised by my mentors) to have a “few” things going at one time (especially when starting out) as none would get the attention and commitment they needed to have in order to grow and make a success of it.

Having done research around some business opportunities, I eventually found the business that would suit me as not only would it really help me achieve my goal but it would help me help others in the process!   This was just over 2 years ago and then I have not looked back.

Commitment according to the dictionary means “the state or quality of being dedicated to a cause, activity, etc”.  Commitment involves being dedicated and loyal to the cause eg your business, project, relationship, etc

I have put everything into my online business and it is rewarding me for my commitment.

If you are committed to succeeding in your business or determined to get started, really serious about starting your own online business, they I would love to hear from you.

Make today YOUR Turning Point!

Can you believe it … we’re at the starting line of a brand NEW YEAR!

Darren Hardy, a popular and excellent motivational speaker and publisher/owner of Success Magazine, was so inspiring in his post and video today, I simply had to share some nuggets and challenges with you (as they express my sentiments exactly)!

He said “Instead of simply letting 2015 bleed into 2016 and limp into 2017…”, and suggested to work out a way to start “winning” this year.

If you are determined to make 2016 a year of change and achievement, you need to be willing to change your thinking.  You need to be willing to take action and do things differently.

Watch the video by Darren and then do the brief but potentially life-changing activity below.

If you are serious about changing your life and redesign your life, get started today!!

Take Action Now & make TODAY your TURNING POINT:

As per Darren’s guidelines –  Get a piece of paper and write this down (say it aloud for further resolve):

This year is my turning point.
From this moment forward, I am taking consistent action to change my life.
Starting right now, life will never be the same.”

He further suggests that you then post this somewhere that will be visible to you EVERY MORNING.

Read it every day – more than once a day – get focused and take the consistent action needed.

Why not Post the picture of your declaration online and encourage others to join you in changing their lives.

Work on how you will achieve this (more ideas re this in further blog posts).

Yes, it does take courage but you CAN do it!

Sign up for my blog post notifications to make sure you do not miss out

A happy, prosperous & successful year to you!

Why? Why? Why? …

Are you in the Internet Marketing Business or thinking of getting started?    Are you in any other business online or offline?

Then I need to ask you: “What is your goal?

Even more importantly  …. What is your “Why?”

Without knowing your “Why?” you will find it difficult to focus and achieve your goal.

If you have no idea why you are in this business or thinking of starting, stop right now and take time to work out your “Why”.

What do you want to achieve?
Why do you want to achieve it?

Are you simply wanting to be successful … whyWhy do you want to be?
Do you need to make provision for your future?
Are you unable to work in a hands-on job due to illness or caring for someone?
Finding it difficult to cope financially?

I haven’t even scratched the surface of the possible reasons you may have.   BUT ONE THING is very certainknowing your why will help you focus and drive you to the place you want to be.

Someone recently described not knowing your why as someone getting into their car, sitting there and having no idea where they want to go or why they got into the car in the first place.   One is bound to get nowhere!

Knowing your “why” will help you set a realistic goal and will help you stay focused even when the going gets tough!!

If you need help setting goals or working out your “why”, contact me via the form below and I’ll be happy to provide additional info and assistance.

To your success

Life can only be understood backwards; but it must be lived forwards ~ Soren Kierkegaard

Hi, Day here …

I watched a really short video last night which mentors of mine shared with me.  I just wanted to share it with you too.

You may have heard these words before … possibly many times … particularly those of Steve Jobs (an American entrepreneur who was the cofounder, chairman, and CEO of Apple Inc)

You can’t connect the dots looking forward, you can only connect them looking backwards. You have to trust that the dots will somehow connect in your future”

We have a limited time on this planet, therefore it is important we live it following our true love and passion. Having a short life made up of  doing what we love as opposed to a long life filled with boredom and fatigue is very much more meaningful and well lived. What you like to do best?  Think about it and, regardless of the odds, follow that path!  Why?  It will lead you to greater success than a mediocre existence as a slave to a dead end job you despise doing

Take a moment to let me know where you would like to see yourself if you were looking back and “joining the dots” right now?

Is that where you would like to be?  If not, what to you need to do to change all that …

Let me leave you with that thought for now?

Speak soon again

PS  Try to watch a motivational video like this every day – believe me, it really does make a difference

Working harder on yourself!

My daily email from Darren Hardy, one of my favourite motivational speakers (he is the publisher of Success magazine), was really challenging and inspiring today.  I make no excuse in sharing it with you.

Darren was 18 when he started out in business, working longer hours, making more calls and burning up more energy than anyone else in the office.  Despite all that effort, he still didn’t feel successful in his position. Instead, he says, he felt exhausted and unfulfilled. It wasn’t until Darren learned the key philosophy from his mentor, Jim Rohn, that his life dramatically changed for the better!

What did Jim Rohn repeatedly tell Darren?,

“Work harder on yourself than you do on your job. Work harder on yourself than you do on your business. Work harder on yourself than you do on your marriage. Work harder on yourself than you do on your diet.”

Jim Rohn would go on to say, “The whole key to unlocking all the treasures, whether it’s economic treasures, spiritual treasures, financial, social, personal, every way you can possibly think of, is by your own personal development.

Darren Hardy suggests Action for today:
Think about this as you start your day …
“What are a few outcomes you are trying to create?
Jot them down.

“Maybe it’s…
…Increase your income
…Help your children get better grades
…Improve your sales
…Reducing your BMI
…Increasing the intimacy in your marriage

“Now, how can you work harder on yourself than you do on those outcomes?
How can you improve in mindset, attitude, philosophy, character, behavior and habits?
What can you read, listen to or watch that will grow you, so you can grow that area of your life?

“As Jim also said,
“For things to change, YOU have to change. For things to get better, YOU have to get better. For things to improve, YOU have to improve. When YOU grow, EVERYTHING in your life grows with you.”

“Note: It all starts with YOU.

Go grow YOU today!”

Be inspired, work harder on YOURSELF!

Dealing with Goal Killers – Part 2

Recently we spoke about “Goal Killers”

  1. You didn’t have enough time
  2. You had too many distractions
  3. You were not around the right people
  4. You didn’t know how
  5. You kept procrastinating

We discussed how to deal with the first two – not having enough time and having too many distractions (if you missed that info, visit http://workwithdayashton.com/ to get it and much more!).

Now, lets take a look at the remaining 3 goal killers and how to deal with them!

You were not around the right people

Jim Rohn, an American entrepreneur, author and motivational speaker stated:  “you are the average of the 5 people you spend the most time with”.

How smart or talented you are; where you were born; the family environment you grew up in – all these may play a role in how successful you may or may not be, BUT, the impact of the people you surround yourself with has a major impact and can either lift you higher or keep you trapped and believing you cannot achieve!

Whatever result you want to achieve right now, you need to find people who have already achieved that result because it will make your life so much easier.

Just take a few moments to reflect on the following: Which people do you spend most time with? Do they lift you up or drag you down? Are they folk who are proactive go-getters or folk who just sit and criticise? Do they motivate or drain you?

The amazing thing about being around positive-minded people and action-takers, is that it will help you grow in a positive direction as well. They will have a positive impact on how you think and inevitably behave.

You didn’t achieve the results you desired because you didn’t know how
This is probably the simplest to rectify.

Whatever subject you need to find out more about, whatever activity you need to understand, whatever it is you want to achieve or find out about, there is information out there (much of it freely accessible too) which can really help you reach that goal, that dream.

BooksFind out everything you can about it.  Read books – hardcopy or online.  Listen to audio recordings on the subject you are interested in.  Listen to motivational audios too – VERY important.  Tune in to webinars (I can always link you in to very helpful webinars on a variety of issues as well as business-related topics – just contact me and let me know!).     Watch training videos.  Go to seminars, workshops, bootcamps, etc.  Whatever it is you want to get to know, learn from people who have already done it and can guide you meaningfully.

You kept procrastinating!
We all know that overwhelming urge to do anything other than what we should be doing!

In Brian Tracy’s book, “Eat that Frog! – 21 ways to stop procrastinating and get more done in less time”, a statement is made: “One of the very worst uses of time is to do something very well that need not to be done at all”!!

The important thing is to get off the mark.  Focus. Get started!

“Do not wait; the time will never be “just right”.  Start where you stand, and work with whatever tools you may have at your command, and better tools will be found as you go along” (Napoleon Hill)

One tends to keep saying ‘I’ll do it next time, next week or the week after …’

Johann Wolfgang Von Goethe said: “We always have time enough, if we will but use it aright”.

Plan.  You need to schedule it in.  When you schedule whatever you are wanting/planning to do and are specific with a time, the procrastination goes away.

Be specific. You need to schedule the day, the time and the place to make it happen.  For example, Tuesday 20th January at 14:00 is specific.  Simply saying sometime on Tuesday, the action is less likely to happen!
So then, following these 5 very simple steps will dramatically increase the likelihood of achieving your goals right away and finally eliminate one or more of the 5 goal killers.

Be in touch if I can be of assistance or you need more information.

fresh-startYou are at the start of a brand New Year.

It does not matter what your past has been, YOU have a spotless future!

Are YOU living the life you envisioned for YOURSELF?  Have you reached the point YOU wanted to achieve by now?

If not, why?   What killed your dream, your vision?

In a recent article, the following 5 reasons were given as Goal Killers:

  1. You didn’t have enough time
  2. You had too many distractions
  3. You were not around the right people
  4. You didn’t know how
  5. You kept procrastinating

Or possibly that you didn’t really know how to set goals …

According to Darren Hardy, the publisher of Success Magazine, shares in his book, “Living your Best Year Ever”, there are 2 common traits of super achievers:

  1.  “An unyielding commitment to constant learning; and
  2. Clearly written goals that have specific plans laid out to achieve them”

Over the next few days I will be sharing on:

  • how to deal with the goal killers
  • how to set realistic and achievable goals
  • how to manage your time
  • and more …

I leave you with this thought by Paul J. Meyer:

“Goal setting is the most important aspect of all improvement and personal development plans.  Confidence is important, determination is vital, certain personality traits contribute to success, but they all come into focus in goal setting”
